Faces Press Release 2011

In October 2009 the ‘FACES’ headlined the PRS 75th Anniversary Show at The Royal Albert Hall in London where they received an award as an ‘Iconic British Rock Band’ for their ‘Services to the British Music Industry’.

At this prestigious event the Band were fronted by Simply Red’s MICK HUCKNALL who has been a lifelong fan and the reviews that followed in the Press/Media were amazing. The sell-out crowd stood for their performance which was hailed as the highlight of the evening’s celebrations.

Following this event, the media speculation for the Band to reform was rife. Over the years there have been many offers made to the Band to reform, but the time was never appropriate due to the key member’s other activities in music. Ronnie Wood had his commitments to the Stones, Kenney Jones was busy for years with The Who, then his own band The Jones Gang, and Ian McLagan was pursuing a solo career in the States, and former front-man Rod Stewart had moved away from the rock scene to have a very successful solo career.

In 2010 the FACES, with Mick Hucknall on vocals and Glen Matlock on bass, decided to do a few select shows and have some fun bringing back the old days! Their availability was limited as Simply Red were doing their final tour around the world so finding available dates was difficult. The FACES headlined the Goodwood Festival and also did an ‘exclusive’ show for American Express at London’s 02 to a select audience, highlights being their hits Stay With Me, Cindy Incidentally, Ooh La La and Miss Judy’s Farm, and of course a heartfelt rendition of Debris in homage to the late, great, Ronnie Lane. Once again the Press/Media response was nothing but positive. Mick Hucknall’s outstanding performances and on-stage rapport with the band proved once and for all that he is the right man for the job.

One other show followed in Norway, and then the Band re-grouped to make plans for 2011.

Phase 1 of their plan for 2011 is to headline the UK Cornbury Festival on Saturday 2nd July, travel to the Netherlands on the 8th July for the Bospop Festival, then to Belgium to play the TWC Festival. Then on to Germany where they play Stuttgart on 16th July, Dusseldorf on the 17th July and Berlin on the 19th July.

One thing for sure is that the FACES have not lost their unique exciting sound and their music brings a show which is totally memorable. They set the marker back in the 70’s of what a ‘rock & roll show’ should be, and that’s clearly still there for all to see and enjoy!
